Looking over the shoulders of the cheese master craftsmen
In the Appenzell demonstration dairy you can experience live how Appenzeller® cheese is made. You can discover the demonstration dairy interactively and at your own speed on the iPad tour. The tour will take you through all the stages of cheese production and into the impressive cheese cellar in which up to 12,500 cheese wheels are treated on a regular basis. You will then see an interesting film on the Appenzellerland and find out more details about Appenzeller® cheese.
Hostesses on a real guided tour (no prior booking necessary) will explain the finer points about the production of the spicy Appenzeller® cheese to you in either German, English, French or Italian. However, you can be sure about one thing: she will not divulge the secret of the herbal brine!
After you have looked over the shoulders of the cheese master craftsmen, you can taste some hearty Appenzeller dishes in Restaurant "Höckli" and buy some items in the shop.
